The MECIS-NN project was established in mid 1998 and continued until the end of December 2000.  The project was funded by Networking the Nation and was a run-on project from the MECIS project which helped beef producers use the Internet for communication and marketing.

The aim of the MECIS-NN project was to facilitate electronic data transfer for Australian beef industry and thereby allow beef producers to import standard carcase feedback into their on-farm software package.
